This site provides a space for updates and interaction with interested parties, role players, and potential funding sources for the proposed Durban Astronomical Society's Planetarium Sub Committee activities. In short the sub committee, formed in May 2008, is working towards the successful construction and development of a Planetarium and Space Science Centre for the city of Durban.

The city of Durban does not currently have a Planetarium, and we propose to build one.

Weather conditions in Durban are poor and in the absence of good observational astronomy opportunities, we believe that a Planetarium would bring the sky closer to Durban's residents and tourists.

The centre will provide an unparalleled opportunity to engage the public and learners in Astronomy and will put Durban as a must see destination on the map.
